East Asian Bodywork
At White Center Acupuncture we employ three different types of East Asian bodywork:
· Tuina originated out of the necessity of treating battlefield induced traumatic injuries. The goal was to stabilize and set injuries quickly and effectively to get soldiers back on the battlefield as fast as possible. We use a Tuina style that was developed by two practitioners here in the United States to treat sports and lifestyle injuries.
· Sotai is a Japanese style of bodywork created by Keizo Hashimoto that is extremely gentle and uses structural manipulation and reverse motion counterbalance to realign musculoskeletal movement.
· Shiatsu is also a Japanese style of bodywork that is gentle and uses acupressure and muscle stretching to restore meridian balance. It is very gentle, relaxing, and energizing.
